Inside the Experience
Las Chalupitas, nestled in the vibrant heart of Colonia Condesa in Mexico City, is a true culinary gem that celebrates authentic Mexican flavors with a warm, homestyle touch. From the moment you step in, the inviting atmosphere and attentive service set the stage for a memorable meal steeped in tradition.
Their signature chalupas are a standout, crisp and generously filled, echoing the richness of classic Mexican street food. While some may note a milder spice profile—as highlighted by patrons yearning for more heat—the balance of flavors remains thoughtful and well-crafted, allowing the fresh, high-quality ingredients to shine. The chiles en nogada, a celebrated highlight, offers an irresistible contrast of textures and flavors, perfectly capturing the essence of Mexican heritage cuisine.
Beyond chalupas, dishes like the Yucatan pork tacos burst with deep, vibrant notes, showcasing regional specialties with genuine respect and flair. The mole, with its creamy, spicy character, provides a comforting yet complex taste experience, while the vegetarian enchiladas surprise with light grilled vegetables and fresh salsas that add a tangy brightness to the plate.
Breakfast here is equally compelling—an affordable buffet featuring traditional favorites complemented by freshly baked pan dulce and homemade tortillas. The inclusion of fresh fruits and beans alongside main dishes enhances the wholesome, homemade feel that Las Chalupitas consistently delivers.
What truly elevates the experience is the seamless blend of authentic recipes, generous portions, and heartfelt service. Whether you seek the comfort of time-honored classics or wish to explore regional Mexican flavors, Las Chalupitas offers a genuine, soulful dining experience that resonates long after the meal ends. It’s a place where tradition meets sincerity, inviting both locals and visitors to savor Mexico’s rich culinary tapestry in every bite.
“ Food is good, chalupas are great. But why is nothing spicy? The salsas i think are made with no chile. The onions for the cochinita have no habanero. The tostadas de pata that usually have jalapenos. Nothing spicy here. "Si no pica, no sabe." Nada supo. ”
“ Amazing and Appreciated! We came to LC thinking Chilaquiles but left with respect and inspiration for traditional fare and service. We came early as reviews indicate it can be busy. Four of us. The cafe de olla was perfect and we have been trying throughout the area. Jose was our waiter and inspired us to try an original dish (pics). The pan dulce was light and airy. Service perfect, food beyond perfect, and atmosphere relaxed. Thank you Las Chalupitas for making our last day in Mexico City the best morning yet!!!!! ”
“ The chiles en nogada is a must ! The contrast in different textures and flavours can’t be beat ! The Yucatan pork tacos were bursting with flavour. We tried the mole but it was a bit too sweet for our liking. The staff were great, they also gave us tacos and cactus (nopales) salad on the house ! ”
“ I ordered the chuihuajua dish and it was great, the cheese was very good and there was plenty of ham in the omelet, in addition to the beans on the side. I was surprised by the fruits, breads and tortillas that were included in the price. Everything was excellent. I would definitely return. ”
